Biting the Bullet

OK, I finally did it. I went ahead with signing up for YouTube's "partners" program. That means ads of some kind in my YouTube shaving videos. I'm not sure how much control I'll have over it, as I won't have the details until I'm officially accepted into the program. But since they invited me to join, I assume the acceptance is a formality.

Why join? Well, according the the stats I've been getting with my Tubemogul usage, YouTube is far and away the site with the most views--too many to ignore.

And if I can make some money from them I can plow it back into making my videos better and better. However I am sensitive to those who might think that I'm "selling out" so I'm going to change my forum sigs to point to Sclipo, which has been my 2nd choice for some time (the other services mentioned in the "What This Blog's About" on the top-right of this page don't carry the full set) and doesn't run ads on the video.

It's about time! You've made a wonderful resource for shavers around the world. Getting back a little of the funds you've put in through ad revenue is a small pay back for what you've done.

As a musician who has been in a ludicrous amount of unsuccessful bands (and all of them had lots of integrity, right), here's my input on selling out:

Selling out enables you to eventually contemplate the morality of selling out from a nice beach instead of your mom's basement.

GO MANTIC GO
